I've thought long and hard of what to put here. I suppose religion is
what should be here, but I'm not completely sure. I think it would be best to explain where I'm coming from.
My sister is an artist and through her art she worships God and explores ideas
that God gives her. Right now she's working on the cycle of Time and she has a large mathematical interpetation for
what she's doing. I'd try to explain it, but it confuses me too. :-) Besides, who needs math?
For me, worship always used to be "Hallelujah, God is great and awesome and
has lots of marshmellows in heaven" sort of singing. Hymns you couldn't get into, so you sat on the pew and wondered
why going to church seemed like a penance. From that early start I grew to dislike worship until I came to a place where
I loved music and understood the great talent it takes to do good music.
I suppose that makes me like my sister in a way. You worship God in
whatever way you can.

I came into Music for the first time when I was in sixth grade (seems like a lot happened that year, doesn't
it?). I played three instruments over the course of the year- flute, then french horn and finally trumpet. In
June, I got braces put on (another delightful story I much care not to narrate) and the music teacher, Mr. King, told me "A
Clarinet is the way to go with braces."
Luckily the year ended before I could find a clarinet and deliver a whole range of honking and squeaking noises.

I've met a lot of people who've lost their passion for music. I think the real reason behind it is the standards
they place upon themselves. If you just make music about you showing yourself then you'll do fine. But often we
lose track and forget that music isn't about other people- it's about music. Plain and simple sounding, but very complex.
Once all expectations are stripped away you'll realize that it is not important to be the coolest guitarist, to be the best
shredder. Or maybe you will realize that it is. Music should make you happy, not sad.
